Web31 dec. 2011 · Posted December 31, 2011 (edited) IMHO. The compression rise isn't worth the trouble and cost of changing heads. With smaller valves it's a step backwards. I would do cam and exhaust work with your exsisting heads. Plus the usual tuning of injectors,computer etc.. My V-Max 6.0 pings on less than 92 octane.

Web30 mar. 2007 · The 6.0 heads flow better over the 4.8/5.3 as they have different valve sizes, exhaust ports, etc. If you shop hard, you may be able to score some LS6/2 heads to still up the compression AND keep the larger valves. You could always stick larger valves into the 5.3 head for your 6.0, but I'm not sure of your budget. I don't think you'd notice ...

The LS3/L92/LY6/L99/L76 all have the same cast style heads. The valves and springs are different among them. Basically anything after 2007 6.0L or bigger has the L92 square port heads. (save for HO stuff LS9/LS7/LSA). The 4.8/5.3 after that got the 243/799 LS6/LS2 heads.
