The closest lake currently listed as exceeding the state recreation guidelines is Hicklin Lake near Burien. This does not mean lakes near Auburn, such as Lake Tapps or Lake Dolloff, are free of algae blooms. The lakes surrounding Auburn have not been tested in 2024. WebCURRENT STATUS Lake Hicklin now exists in the center of a fully developed urban center, home to residents, businesses, and industry (Abella). Water quality problems accompanied this development. Hicklin Lake is currently too polluted to fill the recreational and ecological roles it did in the past.
