WebFeb 11, 2014 · The firing pin will not go forward and hit the primer while out of battery during the slide cycle and will only go forward while in battery if all safeties are overcome by pressing the trigger all the way to the rear thus releasing the striker. In a malfunction, the first step is to Tap Rack Bang, which is the same motion as "sling shotting" the slide forward. Doing it the same way, every time helps in muscle memory for when things go south and a person potentially loses all fine muscle control.

WebSep 21, 2024 · While shooting the slide would not go forward all the way so it would not return to battery. I put a new recoil spring in it and cleaned it. It still happened. I also had an aftermarket magazine that did not feed properly that was causing problems. Mine happened most with Winchester ammo after 100 rounds when the gun heated up.
